Introduction

The Edukit project (a sophisticated kit of educational services, including lecture theatres, which can be transported by rail, see Edukit catalogue) by Norman Fellows Archiblog, is opportunistic in that it takes a number of available techniques and combines them to effect a necessarily dynamic situation. It simply takes the opportunity to get things moving in the creation of lifelong learning opportunities and the prevention of ignorance by using every bit of technology which might come to hand.

As the Edukit project suggests, there may no longer be any need for a multitude of universities offering the same courses. There may no longer be any need for enormous university campuses in order to bring the best teaching service to the students. There is then the inevitable extension of this idea to the spreading of information services. Thus the pilot project proposes the on-going seminar (which could be conducted online between one institution and another). This would also use rail-based units, as in the case of the original Thinkbelt by Cedric Price, each with a totally self-contained system of printing, recording, teaching machines and enclosures - as necessary.
